Hi! My name is Megan Dufield and I am the Art Specialist at Ascent Academies Lehi. I was a student at Ascent Academies Lehi the very first year it opened, attended for three years thru 9th grade, and then went on to graduate from Lehi High School. I have a big blended family. I am the second youngest of eight kids and I have nine nieces and nephews. I even have a niece and 2 nephews attending Ascent Academies Lehi.
I love art and photography! I was on the yearbook team all three years of high school. During my senior year, I had the amazing opportunity to be the yearbook head editor. It was a wonderful time in which I was able to gain teaching experience, and lead training for other students
I love to create things. I love to draw, especially digital art- I draw on my iPad all the time. I also make my own earrings out of polymer clay. I have been making things out of polymer clay for over 10 years now. I also taught a cluster at Ascent using polymer clay- starting back when I was in junior high! This year will be my fourth year assisting at Ascent Academy as a staff member and I love it here!
Some of my favorite things are: Art, reading, listening to music, Star Wars, Disney, Marvel, mushrooms, sleep, and of course; teaching!
In my art class we will be going over the basics of art, but diving deeper into the creative process, and having fun with art! I want students to view this art class as a fun thing, and not just another class with assignments and due dates. Some fun things you’ll get to do if you join my class are; polymer clay, 3D art, painting, drawing, and being creative!
In my Yearbook class, students will be able to understand everything that makes a yearbook. From taking pictures, to writing stories. This class is a lot harder than my art class, and has a lot more responsibilities. Students taking the Yearbook class should expect lots of work, with strict deadlines. However, I do try to make it fun as well, don’t worry!
