Ascent Academies of Utah (AAU) recognizes the importance of employing high quality teachers and believes that hiring and retaining excellent teachers is vital to student success. Current Positions Available

Preference will be given to applicants who are Highly Qualified by the NCLB standards in addition to being Qualified by the Utah State Office of Education. Information on teacher credentialing and licensing is available on the USOE website: http://www.schools.utah.gov/cert/. Ascent Academies' main hiring criteria is to ensure that it employs faculty and staff who are capable of generating above-average student learning gains.

Additionally, candidates selected for an interview for teaching positions will be asked to provide a 15-minute video of themselves teaching in an authentic learning environment. The video must demonstrate the candidate's ability to use direct instruction, guided practice, and release of students to independent work. The video should be provided at the interview on a DVD, flash drive, or via web access. Interviewees who fail to provide the requested video will not be considered for a teaching position at AAU.
